This is my favorite holiday here in the US—Thanksgiving.
I love Thanksgiving. I love the warmth of being home, being with people I love, reflecting on anything and everything that I am blessed to have in my life.
I love the food—carb heaven with the dressing, the potatoes, the desserts—oh, yes, and the other more “nutritious aspects of a traditional Thanksgiving meal!
I love taking those TWO days off—both Thursday and Friday! And then the weekend!
Nowadays, I love that my clan has agreed that we have enough, and we do not have to engage in that wild scene of traffic and shopping and the buying sprees of buying more “stuff” the day after Thanksgiving. “Giving” can take deeper forms.
Worthy of gratitude, all!
But there are also many opportunities related to high levels of sensitivity and empathy that I—and you as a fellow Empath—are blessed to have.
When we can focus on what is going right, what we do well and love, we create more happiness, more resilience, and more gratitude for ourselves. In turn, that helps us emanate hope…love…goodness…
When we reflect on those who have been positive influences in our lives, and even better—when we can thank them—we refuel appreciation as part of our own energy fields. We feel good, and that means others’ sensitivity gets to pick up the “good stuff,” which in turn activates their “good stuff,” and so on and so on…
There are so many ways we get to share our empathic skills so that others feel “gotten,” which in turn, can reduce their sense of alienation and help them forge their own paths toward healing.
The ways to hone our empathic gifts are myriad. We get to—and we must—keep learning how to bring more health and resilience to our own lives, as well as strengthening our sensitivity so that we are able to contribute this empathy to a world greatly in need of it! How cool is that?!
I appreciate how my clients and students continue to look to me to become a better practitioner and teacher—a responsibility which in turn “requires” me to continue to study, learn, and share the teachings—a highlight of this work, not only as a professional but as a human and a soul! Immeasurable!
The same is true for you: The more you discover and hone your unique interests and skills as an empath and the better you get at respecting and caring for yourself, the more you can give and the greater your contribution will be.
I am grateful that the web allows us all to find one another and to build a sense of empathic tribe. Here you are, and while we may not have met directly, I hope you leave a note and that we can at least share a hello…and share this journey more in the future.
So Happy Thanksgiving! A time of appreciation for you, for all of us. A time to rest and recharge perhaps…to refuel (hopefully not to the point of feeling too stuffed!)…and to note what IS a gift in your life.
And finally, always worth repeating…wherever you are, know that you are valuable, you have gifts to share, and you increase your worth and contributions the more you learn to take deep care of yourself and your sensitivity.
A blessed Thanksgiving to you!
